About Severn Excavation

Severn Excavation is owned and operated by Tommy Malone, a Marine Corps veteran with an engineering degree and over a decade of experience in the trades. Before the business got started, Tommy worked in pool construction, new home builds, and structural hardscaping. That background combined with training in quality control and site engineering is what sets our work apart today.

We keep our team intentionally small so we can stay focused on doing clean, efficient, quality work, whether we’re trenching for a sewer line, installing a drainage system, or building a retaining wall that needs to hold up for decades.

Tommy is directly involved on every job, overseeing the details on site, making sure the work gets done safely, precisely, and to spec. If you're looking for a crew that shows up, works smart, and leaves things better than we found them, that's what we’re here for.

  • The owner has 10+ years of experience in residential and commercial construction. We are licensed by the state of Maryland as a Home Improvement Contractor, MHIC #145563, and are formally trained and certified in hardscape and drainage installation.

  • Yes. We are happy to submit all permitting and zoning applications for your project.

  • No, we will not. However, we are happy to allow the client to inspect materials before installation. Having the contractor purchase materials ensures that we are responsible for purchasing enough quantities of the correct material.

  • Yes. Our hardscape and drainage projects are warrantied for 5 years.
